Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of opti.pictures. By using OptiPic, you agree to them. They are written in plain language — no hidden gotchas.

The service

OptiPic is a free, browser-based image optimization and conversion tool. All processing happens locally in your browser using WebAssembly. We do not charge for the service, require an account, or impose usage limits.

OptiPic is provided “as is” and “as available” without any warranty, express or implied. We may change, suspend, or discontinue the service at any time without prior notice.

Your files and content

OptiPic never receives your files. All image data stays on your device. Because we never access, receive, or store your files, we make no claim to any ownership, license, or rights over any content you process with OptiPic.

By using OptiPic, you represent and warrant that:

  • You own or have the legal right to use and process the images you upload.
  • Your use of OptiPic with those images does not infringe the intellectual property rights of any third party.
  • You will not use OptiPic to process content that is illegal in your jurisdiction.

Acceptable use

You may use OptiPic for any lawful personal or commercial purpose. You may not:

  • Use OptiPic in a way that violates applicable laws or regulations.
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or otherwise extract the underlying source code (beyond what is already open-source).
  • Use automated means to abuse or overload the static hosting infrastructure in a way that degrades service for others.

Metadata and EXIF data

OptiPic gives you tools to remove or preserve EXIF metadata embedded in your images. You are solely responsible for how you use this capability. Please review our Legal Notice for important information on EXIF removal, copyright metadata, and related legal considerations.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, OptiPic and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to:

  • Loss of data, images, or files resulting from use of the service.
  • Any outcomes resulting from metadata removal or modification.
  • Errors or inaccuracies in conversion or compression output.
  • Service interruptions or technical failures.

Because OptiPic processes files locally in your browser, you bear full responsibility for saving the output files. We strongly recommend keeping originals before processing.

Intellectual property

The OptiPic name, logo, and the original source code are the intellectual property of OptiPic's operator. The underlying open-source libraries used by OptiPic are governed by their respective licenses (primarily MIT and Apache 2.0).

Privacy

Your use of OptiPic is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these terms by reference. The short version: we collect no personal data and your images never leave your browser.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of OptiPic after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.
